Headed up to the Blue Mountains via train on a really beautiful sunny day. Day dreamed looking out of the window and enjoyed the scenery as we passed out of town. Arrived in Leura at lunchtime and made a beeline for some food! Had a delicious lunch at a cute wee place and then headed off in the direction of our hotel. This being a country akin with America, our walking journey was arduous to say the least. It took us about half an hour of trekking through the burbs until we hit the hotel – what a joy it was to see it!

The hotel, Peppers (what a stupid name, but it’s big over here!), was stunning. Right next to the golf course and near the ‘cliffs’ over looking the valley. Checked in and got settled and tried to plan our afternoon, but didn’t come to much agreement and up in the mountains things shut early and the weather was closing in. So we decided to go for a walk/bushwalk in/around the hotel. It was really good fun (Zain enjoyed it and he has told me on numerous occasions that he hates walking! So was very pleased). The walk was of course threatened with dangerous animals and locals at every turn. I was on high alert all the way there and back! It was nice to, in theory, be in the ‘bush’. We saw some birds, lots of local foliage and some spectacular views which made the perils all the more worth while.
On the way back it started to spit a bit with rain so we decided to cut the walking a bit short and then head to the bar…some cocktails ensued and we had a great start to the weekend break. After a few cocktails and some room service, I flaked out – all that fresh air must have done it! And we are coming into the winter now, so that means cosying up under the covers and staying inside and sleeping.
