Beach trip
25/02/07 – Sunday
Was a goodie, goodie, and got up this morning to go for a run. The weather is definitely on the change as it pretty much drizzled it’s way through the day. It was perfect weather for a run though. The runs are still involving a pretty big deal of puffing and panting, but getting there…
After that, headed down to Darling Harbour to watch the Dragon boat races. These sound a lot more glamorous and interesting than they are. Basically it was big corporate groups competing in oversized kayaks to win the day and as a by product promote their organisations. They really bought into it aswell – cult, brainwashing, anyone???
By this time, the day was pretty grey and miserable, so I decided to jump on a bus and head to Coogee beach and see what that was all about. The beach was very quite of course and not nearly as ‘cliched’ as the other seaside beaches in Sydney. It was a much smaller resort and had a nice laid back feel to it. Had a coffee and a bit of a read of magazines which is always a good thing.
Headed home after that and did all sorts of domestic things – ironing, watching TV etc…
Observations:
Seaside Sydney – I think this is definitely the allure of Sydney. It has such a big dual personality; it’s all business and commerce in the city centre, and then as you work your way out to the beach it is all surf bum and chilled out living. It is such a great dual personality! I love it!!
