12/01/07 – Friday
A frantic day of finding out about buses, sorting finances, signing the lease, sorting the lease of white goods, and visiting possibly the worlds worse place: IKEA. Got the train out to IKEA as it is actually part of (another) enormous mall; which is pretty handy for public transport, but not so good for walking to get too it (nothing is that easy!). Spent about 2/3 hours debating many things and having (inner) fights about what to get; after all we are starting a whole life here. From scratch. And on a very limited budget.
Really looking forward to moving in to our new place tomorrow. Fingers crossed that we will get the keys at 12 noon and we will be officially Sydneysider tenants.
Observations:
Westfield mall: Amazing, and Bondi Junction (beach) seems really cosmopolitan and groovy too.
Language: Aussies are a dab hand at coming up with cool interesting ways of phrasing things. For example: Hatch, Match and Dispatch (Births, Marriage and Deaths), or Insular Peninsular, which they use to describe the North Beach area (as no-one wants to leave there!)
